Portraits - AP

I found taking formal portraits - staged, in front of a window - pretty tricky! The lighting has to be just right, which apparently isn't right at any window in our house (arg!) and your subject needs to be able to take direction... I'm shocked my 5 month old and 2 year old weren't following my instruction! lol...
Regardless, I think I captured both well and in their elements :) Below are my favorites. All were candid and taken outdoors except for the last
black and white which was in front of a window at home.

Professor, I also found these more difficult to edit than previous assignments.. I'd appreciate suggestions for the below!!

  1. The two strongest images of the series you posted our numbers two and three. The second one has lovely light hitting his face and the bokeh from the telephoto lens you used is lovely. I like the tight framing… One tweak would be to move the camera a little bit more to the right having less space behind his head and more in front of his face.

The upside down shot of your baby is lovely as well… I love how the depth of field trips of and how his (her?) blue onesie contrasts with the warm color stripes of the towel he's on. Both images are complete in and of themselves nothing need be added or subtracted.

The bottom one is a bit dark and slightly soft from a slow shutter speed perhaps… She has a beautiful expression though.
