Macro

This assignment was a bit tricky to me . A few weeks ago while on campus I captured flowers in front of the Albertus Magnus East Hartford Campus and then a few things from my grandmothers garden . I so wish that I would’ve went out after the rain .

  1. The first one in the series is definitely my favorite. This is a true macro shot… The idea is to move in so close to be able to see an object in a new way… In a way you may not have considered before. The composition is good and I especially like that it sharp and filling the frame.

Number four may be an instance where your cropping in too much in order to create a faux macro. See how pixelated it is and how un- sharp? That's something that we have to actively manage in digital photography in order to keep the quality up.

Number five is quite nice in terms of the composition. The blowouts on the highlights of the flower are due to a more limited dynamic range in your camera… See the blooming light around it? That is probably from a bit of oil on the lens of your phone cam. Because we keep our funds in our pockets and handle them a lot we tend to smear body oil over the lens and that can reduce the quality.

That's what happened again with the next shot number six. It looks like oil over the lens is creating a flare and a lower contrast situation. So the moral of the story is before shooting pictures that you might check the lens and clean it with a hand wipe.

Hang in there and keep shooting!
